1. Will my items be washed at a public laundromat?
There are many public laundromats offering delivered laundry services these days. Public laundromats are typically designed as a place for the general public to come to do their own laundry. They typically provide a large number of washers and dryers but often don’t have adequate space to perform all of the sorting, folding, and hanging needed to produce a quality product. Due to the nature of the public laundromat business it’s hard to prevent unsanitary items from coming into the facility and therefore it can sometimes be difficult to maintain sanitized equipment. Laundromats provide a great service to those who need a place to go to do their own laundry, but they are not set up very well to support a delivered laundry service. A private laundry on the other hand can be designed specifically for the job of supporting the needs of a delivered laundry service. It’s very much akin to having the right tool for the job. The results will certainly show it.

2. How can I be sure I am going to get all of my laundry back?
Some residential laundry services don’t have adequate procedures in place to prevent your items from being commingled with those items of another household. As a result, there may be times when you may not get all of your items returned to you or you may get someone else’s items commingled with your order when you receive it. All laundry personnel are human and as such will make mistakes. You’ll want to make sure the laundry service you choose has process tracking mechanisms in place which will allow them to backtrack and correct any problems that arise.

3. Do you inspect each piece prior to washing?
Inspecting each piece prior to washing is very important as it allows a laundry service to monitor what is being put into their washers and dryers and to maintain sanitary conditions throughout the laundering process. If you don’t monitor the quality of the incoming laundry you won’t be able to maintain sanitary conditions in the washers and dryers.
At Laundry Reimagined we inspect each piece prior to laundering and properly address any unsanitary items found. This allows us to maintain sanitary conditions throughout the process.
4. Do you pre-treat for stains?
Both heat and drying act to set stains in fabrics. Therefore, it is important to pretreat and remove stains as soon as possible after they occur. If they are not removed during the first washing the stains will often set in the dryer and will be much more difficult to remove later.

5. Do you offer air drying?
If you look closely at your garment care tags you will likely find that a some of your items call for air drying (Hang dry, Line dry, Lay flat to dry, etc.). If you have items which need to be air-dried and your laundry service doesn’t offer air-dry service they may be disregarding the garment care tags and tumble drying those items. This practice puts your fine washables at risk of damage and/or significantly shortens their useful life.

6. Do you offer delivery on hangers?
The garments you wear are a form of your own self-expression and have a direct impact on how you are perceived by others. If you want to look your best, managing your garments on hangers is a great way to significantly reduce wrinkles and assure that you’ll have a supply of great looking garments to choose from when you dress for your day.

7. What laundry products do you offer?
Everyone has a different way in which they want their laundry done. You may have skin allergies and need a hypoallergenic detergent. Or you may prefer an unscented detergent or a liquid softener. You’ll want to make sure your laundry service provides laundry products which will meet the needs of you and your family.

8. What heat setting do you use when tumble drying?
As you know, the higher the temperature setting in the dryer the faster your laundry dries. However, temperatures over 125 degrees F can damage many fabrics. That is why the vast majority of garment care tags specify to tumble dry at low heat. It’s about caring for your fabrics and protecting your investment in your wardrobe.

9. What do you offer for wrinkle treatments?
Not all garments will look great coming out of the dryer and going on to a hanger. You may want some of your garments to be treated for wrinkles. There are three common ways in which you can address wrinkles:
i. Machine steam pressing
ii. Garment Steaming
iii. Hand Ironing
The method you choose will likely depend the type of garment and the level of finish desired. If you are in need of these services you’ll want to make sure your laundry service provider offers them.

10. Will you respect my privacy?
Laundry is a personal thing for many people. When you send your laundry out you might be sending with it information you may not want released to the general public. Your laundry service should have policies and procedures in place to assure that all of your personal information is protected and doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.
